„For someone growing up in a christian home I felt mentally quite prepared for what the DTS had in store for me. But soon I learned that you can never be prepared for God bringing change into your life. We started off with lecture phase in which we got taught in hearing Gods voice and his father heart. Those teachings caused quite the emotional reactions from all of us students, yet I personally loved learning about the historical facts and figures concerning the bible. Perched on the edge of my seat, I eagerly listened to the teachers telling us how the old testament was connected to the new testament and why certain rituals were celebrated to certain times. While others were healed from things that happened in their past, these facts and figures made me appreciate the bible and it’s power even more than I ever did before. But there was one week that really touched all of us and that was where we went into depth about Jesus’ death and how God wanted to show us that we’re worth it to him, that he loves us so much and his love for us was worth dying for.
Outreach took the word ‘perseverance’ to a whole other level for me. There were challenges every day that had to be conquered and I do admit, I wanted to jump right back on a plane and fly home. But if God wants you somewhere he will give you the strength to cope with the circumstances around you. I don’t know how, but I made it through those two months despite the culture shock, the 10 hours bus rides, bedbugs and days with 90% humidity. Looking back now, I wouldn’t change a thing even if I could. These 5 months had their ups and downs, but that’s what adventures are all about and who doesn’t like a little adventure in their life?!“ -Joy-
